Service

Pain related to sport

Pain-medical assessment and treatment of tendon, muscle and joint pain around training and sport – conservative, targeted and matched to your level of activity.

All services

The focus is on pain-medical and conservative procedures: a careful pain history, targeted treatment – for example with ultrasound-guided injections – and, where medically indicated, supporting infusion therapy.

Also available as an online consultation. You can have the initial consultation either at the practice or by video from home — you choose when booking. Whether an in-person examination is needed is something we discuss together.

Whether after an injury, with stubborn tendon or joint complaints, or with pain that keeps returning during training: the aim is to relieve pain, rebuild your capacity step by step and work out together what is keeping the complaints going.

It starts with the conversation: when the pain occurs, with which movement and under what load, what has already been treated and which previous findings exist. Then the clinical examination and – where it answers the question – ultrasound, which shows tendons, bursae and joints in motion.

Treatment is conservative: targeted injection with a local anaesthetic, where indicated combined with an anti-inflammatory agent, together with stepped pain medication and advice on how to load the area from here. Physiotherapy, exercise therapy or imaging are discussed and referred where they belong.

Complaints treated

  • Tendon complaints (Achilles, patellar, elbow, shoulder)
  • Muscular pain and trigger points after exertion
  • Joint pain in knee, shoulder, hip and ankle
  • Back and neck pain under training load
  • Persistent pain after an injury or an operation

At a glance

  • Pain history and clinical examination
  • Ultrasound-guided injection where indicated
  • Conservative – no surgical procedures
  • Private service with invoice

How it works

  • 1Pain history: onset, movement, load, previous findings
  • 2Clinical examination, ultrasound where needed
  • 3Targeted treatment and stepped pain medication
  • 4Advice on further loading, follow-up

Important notes

  • Treatment effectiveness depends on the individual clinical picture.
  • What is offered is pain-medical assessment and treatment. Exercise testing, training planning and fitness-to-compete examinations are not part of it.
  • Exercise, sleep and nutrition remain the foundation of any treatment — what makes sense beyond that is decided by the findings.

Private practice (Wahlarzt). There are no statutory insurance contracts. You receive an invoice and pay it directly. If you are insured in Austria, you may submit it to your insurer (ÖGK, SVS, BVAEB, KFA) for partial reimbursement. If you are insured abroad, the invoice is issued in your name for your own insurer or travel policy — whether and how much is refunded is decided there.

Laboratory. Blood is drawn at the practice and analysed by a partner laboratory in Tyrol. For visitors from abroad the laboratory work is a private service and is invoiced as such, as are the consultation and the medical interpretation of the results, which you receive as a written letter.
